Radicalisation Violent Extremism and Organised Crime Portfolio

Friederike Savatier holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Psychology from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and a Master’s degree in International Studies and African Studies from ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon. Her master’s thesis delved into youth radicalisation in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique, with a focused aim to identify and analyse the root causes, triggers, and key drivers fuelling the insurgency.

She has gained valuable experience at the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD), a prominent think tank in Durban, South Africa, where she was involved in high-level conflict mediation initiatives facilitated by the African Union and the Regional Economic Communities.

After her tenure at ACCORD, Friederike joined Interpeace in Guinea-Bissau, where she gained substantial field experience by working closely with a local organization and assisting in the coordination of projects in collaboration with various United Nations agencies.

At IPS, Friederike Savatier is assigned to the Radicalisation, Violent Extremism and Organised Crime portfolio, more specifically to the Unit for Security and Criminal Justice Cooperation.
