Report: Professional Profile and Entry Requirements

Home Resource PO21 Report: Professional Profile and Entry Requirements

Description

Prison Officers’ Professional Profile across Europe is usually defined by law and framed in national legislation as are the needed entry requirements for this job. This professional profile is also integrated into the ESCO system under different labels such as prison officer, Prisoner custody officer, turnkey, prison warden, detention officer, corrections officer, gaoler, prison guard and jailer.

This Professional Profile and Entry Requirements resulted from the analysis of ESCO profiles, the prison officers professional profile and entry requirements in 25 European countries and from a survey carried out in the PO21 workshops, where the participants (prison officers, prison directors, prison trainers, union representatives, psychologists) agreed on the entry requirements and defined a European Prison Officer Profile.
