Margarida Damas

Margarida Damas holds a Bachelor degree in Criminology, granted by the Faculty of Law of University of Porto, during which she conducted a 6-month internship at a Portuguese prison facility, working to promote prison adjustment and social integration. Broadening her focus, Margarida sucessfully completed her Master Degree in Sociology, granted by ISCTE-IUL in Lisbon, holding a specialisation in Human Rights.
On her master’s dissertation, Margarida explored the difficulties of prison re-entry, doing so from a structural and relational perspective, uncovering the complexities of the notion of stigma. More recently, and as part of her on-going commitment to promote integration of groups in vulnerable situations, Margarida completed a post-graduate degree, granted by Lusófona University on Risk Intervention and Inclusion promotion. Margarida is also a certified trainer.

At IPS, Margarida is assigned to the Radicalisation, Violent Extremism and Organised Crime Portolfio, managing a research unit on Communitarian Inclusion and Social Development.
