Pedro das Neves, the CEO of IPS_Innovative Prison Systems, and, cumulatively, director and editor-in-chief of JUSTICE TRENDS magazine, has been awarded the ICPA Correctional Excellence Award 2017 (Management and Staff Training).
The prize was awarded on October 25th, 2017 during the Special Event and Awards Gala Ceremony, at the Hotel Novotel London West, United Kingdom.
The awards were announced and delivered in the scope of the ICPA-International Corrections and Prisons Association 19th Annual General Meeting and Conference “Innovation in Rehabilitation: Building Better Futures”, that took place between the 22nd and the 27th of October 2017; the event was attended by more than 600 members and delegates from correctional institutions and jurisdictions around the globe.
Recognizing the need for efficient operations to support our correctional objectives, “this award represents the acknowledgment, praise, and recognition of your many colleagues in the Association for your hard work and dedication towards the advancement of professional corrections”, stated Michelle Carpentier, Executive Director of ICPA.
For the winner, this award represents – both personally and for the company he leads – the recognition of two decades serving the noblest causes within the criminal justice sector, through the careful and intense involvement and leadership in numerous innovative transnational projects that have done much for the development of correctional systems in Europe and Latin America.
“I am truly honored and delighted with this recognition, which for me represents an even greater incentive to continue our efforts to advance the correctional sector as well as lead the IPS team towards continuing excellence in innovation”, Mr. Das Neves emphasized.
The ICPA Correctional Excellence Awards have been established for eight categories including Offender Management and Reintegration, Research, Community Corrections, Correctional Healthcare, Outstanding Correctional Service Employee, Head of Service, and the President’s Award. These awards aim to recognize outstanding progress and excellence with respect to the mission of the ICPA-International Corrections and Prisons Association, particularly those achievements that advance humanitarian approaches and professional corrections.
