IPS participated in the VII International Conference of Psychology and Psychiatry of Justice held in Porto from 26 to 27 November 2016 organized by the Portuguese Society of Psychology and Psychiatry of Justice.
Representing IPS, Pedro das Neves briefly presented more than a decade of partnership projects developed with prison systems at the panel “Justice Innovation Partnerships”, a journey that started in Portugal in 2002 while cooperating with the Portuguese Prison Administration.
Pedro das Neves presented challenges and opportunities of introducing systems and new technologies in prisons and referred the mutual benefits of engaging public agencies, social organisations and private sector organisations in solving very complex societal challenges such as the ones that justice systems are facing, especially regarding mental health, aging and palliative care.
