On June 2nd, 2017, the Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa paid a visit to PARKURBIS Science and Technology Park, where IPS_Innovative Prison Systems is headquartered, in Covilhã, Portugal.
In the context of this event Pedro das Neves – IPS’ CEO – had the opportunity and honor to present the work that the company has been developing; the brief introduction culminated in the offer of the first issue of JUSTICE TRENDS magazine to the PM, thus being a symbolic inauguration of this publication that is aimed at the worldwide corrections’ community.
Mr. Costa expressed his surprise, satisfaction and interest in the international initiative of a Portuguese company operating in such a specific sector, welcoming Portugal’s participation through the interviews of Dr. Celso Manata, Director General of the Portuguese Prison and Probation Services, of the Judge Edgar Taborda Lopes, Training Coordinator of the Center for Judicial Studies, and of Dr. João Goulão, MD, the Director General of SICAD – the Portuguese Intervention Service in Addictive Behaviors and Dependencies.
Furthermore, the head of Government has participated in the presentation of the internationalization projects of a number of companies that operate from PARKURBIS, amongst which is IPS_Innovative Prison Systems, whose business endeavors and activity have been considered an “example of excellence” – words spoken by Mr. António Costa.
The head of the Government, who dedicated this day and visit to “Economy and Innovation“, stressed the importance of investing in business knowledge, in innovative practices, and in the qualification of human resources.
The leader has underscored that “businesses that are being developed in this region can very well be at the forefront of the country’s economic growth due to being geared to the global market”, concluded the PM.
