Sofia Almeida has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Beira Interior, Covilhã, Portugal, and a master’s degree in Criminology from the Faculty of Law, University of Porto, Portugal.
Her master’s thesis, entitled “Rapist Offenders and Sexual Abuser of Minors Offenders: A Comparative Study Through TriPM, BIS/BAS and CAPP-SR,” focused on sexual offending in Portuguese prison establishments and involved data collection in four prison establishments in northern Portugal.

Within IPS, Sofia works within the Unit for Risk Prevention & Criminogenic Intervention in the Rehabilitation, Reintegration & Community Portfolio, as well as in the Security and Criminal Justice Cooperation Unit, which is part of the Radicalisation, Violent Extremism and Organised Crime Portfolio.
She is also assigned to the HORUS 360 iOMS project.
